August Poem
A currency of faith: reflecting on spiritual wealth in my upcoming devotional poetry book, "Health, Wealth and Stealth."
A Currency of Faith
The market roars, the nations trade,
And values shift with each parade.
We measure life in cost and gain,
Yet seldom count the heart’s refrain.
What profit lies in endless toil,
If roots of peace are left in soil?
The Spirit’s worth no mint can weigh,
No ledger holds what hearts convey.
To give in love, to serve, to care—
This is the coin beyond compare.
For faith invests in heaven’s plan,
Not fleeting gold, nor praise of man.
When wealth is gone, the faithful stand,
Still holding promise in their hand.
Their balance sheet of grace will show,
What God has given, none can owe.
Commentary
This poem reframes wealth through the metaphor of divine economy. It speaks of spiritual investment—the act of giving, serving, and trusting as eternal currency. The closing verses remind us that the richest souls are those in God’s account of grace.
